Among the features of the new service is enhanced cross-platform compatibility, allowing users to view the City’s live streaming video content from almost any computer or device, including Windows and Mac computers, iPhone, iPad, and Android smartphones and tablets. Once a meeting is completed, meeting video will be available online within just a few hours, compared to 24 hours or longer with the City’s previous system. In addition, archived videos feature an indexed agenda, allowing users to select a particular agenda item and jump to the relevant section of video.
The new video system is powered by Texas-based Swagit’s Extensible Automated Streaming Engine (EASE), a purpose-built framework which has also been adopted by Escambia County, Bay County, and the Santa Rosa County School Board, among others.
Citizens can access both live and archived video from the City’s homepage or by visiting http://cityofpensacola.com/video.
