The online offering is enabled by the city’s new video streaming technology, which will increase public input and involvement in government.

After going through a rigorous bid process, Provo city chose Swagit Productions, LLC as their streaming video provider. City staff members cited several advantages over other bid participants including Flash media technology, larger video files, and the ability to add several years of pre-existing content to their solution in a matter of days. Provo didn't have to hire any new employees or change any current employees workload, as they chose to go 'hands-free' and let Swagit edit, process, stream and archive all video files.

Beginning August 4th the city of Provo will make its municipal council meetings available for viewing LIVE and on-demand anytime via the city’s website provo.org.
