What is Podcasting? Podcasting refers to a method by which users can subscribe to receive new updates to recurring content for viewing on their computers or portable media devices. While the simplest example is that of a television show that has a new episode each week, the paradigm applies to any groups of related content such as city council meetings, theatrical trailers, news broadcasts, etc.

How Does Podcasting Differ from Normal Streaming? With traditional methods of Internet video delivery users are required to repeatedly visit the origin website to see if new content is available which can be time consuming. If the site offered it's content as a Podcast the user could simply subscribe, after which they would begin to receive new updates automatically in a media player such as iTunes. Additionally if the user has a portable media player such as an iPod they can arrange for new content to automatically be transferred to their device for viewing at their convenience, any place, any time.
